BSG Feature Film Being Considered by Universal

According to Aint it Cool News it looks like there is a Battlestar Galactica feature film that is under consideration, however it won’t be coming to theaters. Details are scarce, but if the film is approved it would be going directly to DVD. Currently there is no planned release date, or any information on a storyline. I was really hoping that any BSG feature film would come out on the big screen, however given that there are no concrete plans yet it will be interesting to see what happens.

BSG Video Game Rumor

I rented Star Trek Legacy for the Xbox 360 the other day, and was very disappointed. Even though the graphics looked great, the controls of the game were awful. I played STL for about 30 minutes before taking it out and returning it to Blockbuster. For some reason playing Star Trek Legacy got me thinking that it would be nice to play a BSG game. I found the following bit of information about a rumored BSG game on Sci Fi’s website:

Gaming Web site 1up.com reported a rumor that a massively multiplayer online game based on the SCI FI Channel original series Battlestar Galactica is in the works. According to the site, a listing recently appeared on the EB Games Web site for an Xbox 360 MMO game published by Vivendi, which owns 20 percent of NBC Universal… Vivendi told the site that it is “looking into” the listing, but did not comment any further. The title has since been removed from the EB Games site.

Time Magazine Picks Battlestar Galactica in Top 10 TV Shows of 2006

Happy New Year! Today Time Magazine released their 25 Top Ten for 2006. Here is an excerpt from their list:

“A high-minded war turns into a brutal quagmire. Terrorist sleepers turn the public paranoid. And the victims of an attack find themselves sacrificing liberty to defend it. Sound like any planet you know? The topical parallels became deeper and more chilling in Seasons 2 and 3 of this thinking viewer’s space opera….”

“BG is a pretty mind-blowing work of straight sci-fi, and Season 3’s exploration of the mysterious culture of the quasi-human, deeply religious Cylons may be even more compelling than the show’s politics.”

Major Loss Midway Through the Last Half of Season 3

It looks like Galactica is going to be short one major character by the end of this season.  In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Galactica Producer Ronald Moore explains whats to come on the series.

“Something’s going to happen,” Moore told Maureen Ryan of the Chicago Tribune. “I don’t want to oversell it because I don’t want people to see it and then go, ‘Oh well, that’s not what we were expecting. We were expecting something even bigger.’ But there’s definitely a pivotal episode coming up.”

Although Moore did not directly admit to the demise of a major character, one can allude that is whats going to happen.

“There’s a pretty big loss coming midway through the second half of the season,” Moore said. “There are things that you could do to the show that would fundamentally alter it. The question for us a lot is, we want to play the loss and the mortality of all characters in the show without completely disrupting the fabric of the show, and that’s sort of the challenge of it.”

So, if it’s going to be a major character, who should it be?  I tried to think of a character that I don’t like, however I could not think of anyone.  I like them all.

Pegasus - Season 2.5 Episode 10

I just finished watching the Pegasus episode for the second time. First of all I thought the episode was one of the best out of the entire season. I had a few comments:

- In the beginning of the episode when Galactica realizes that the unknown ship was in fact the Pegasus, I hated the music they played. I don’t know it just didn’t seem to fit.

- After watching it again the second time, I picked up a few things that I didnt see before. When Adama was talking to Roslin about Admiral Cain, it seemed to me that Adama kind of respected her but also didn’t like the fact that she was younger than him.

- The drama during the standoff between the two ships and how Adama stood up to Cain really made this episode great. See the video I have posted below.

- The Baltar scenes with the captured six were too long. I wish they cut it down.

Recap of Pegasus: Season 2.5 Episode 10 - Original Broadcast Date: 9/23/2005

The crew is stunned to learn that the Battlestar Pegasus also survived the attack on the Colonies, but tensions run high when the Pegasus’s Admiral Cain assumes command of the fleet. Baltar is assigned to examine the Pegasus’s own Cylon prisoner, a battered woman who looks like Number Six.

Welcome to the Unofficial Battlestar Galactica Blog

I have been a fan of Battlestar Galactica ever since I bought Season 1 of the show on the advice of a friend. I decided to start this blog out of appreciation of the show, and the bar that Battlestar Galactica has set for the Science Fiction genre in general. Please note that most of my posts will be regarding the re-imagining series that started in 2003.
